MUSIC
At Kingsfleet music is taught in accordance with the National Curriculum, enabling pupils to perform, listen to, review and evaluate music across a range of historical periods, genres, styles and traditions. Children develop their understanding of musical elements such as pitch, duration, dynamics, tempo, timbre, texture and structure through singing, composing and performing. They are encouraged to explore music creatively, use their voices expressively and play a variety of instruments. In addition to curriculum provision, the school enriches pupils’ musical experiences through a school choir, providing opportunities to develop performance skills and confidence. Pupils also have opportunities to participate in community events and performances, helping them to share their musical talents with wider audiences and strengthen links with the local community.
There is also the opportunity to learn a variety of musical instruments for Key Stage 2, with tuition from peripatetic teachers for which there is a termly charge. There are discounts for siblings, however if you wish to access financial support for this please ask the school for an application form. These lessons take place during school hours or over the lunch break.
